Pineapple Financial Inc. on Thursday, Oct. 15, introduced Pentiv as its new operating brand and launched what it calls an intelligence platform for mortgage agents and brokerages (Business Wire release). The release is datelined Toronto.

The company's shares continue to trade as PAPL on NYSE American. Pentiv said a ticker change to PTIV is anticipated on or about Oct. 26, and that the legal renaming to Pentiv Inc. remains subject to shareholder approval.

What the platform does

Pentiv says it is designed to sit above the origination systems brokerages already use rather than replace them. Its first applications, a Recruitment Agent and an Alternative Mortgage Renewal Agent, already operate inside Pineapple+, the company's internal platform. Pineapple serves as what the company calls customer zero for testing.

The release describes the broader opportunity in terms of Canada's fragmented broker market. It does not establish availability for U.S. brokerages. The company also named Usman Maher as chief financial officer and chief strategy officer.

What brokerage leaders can ask

The company says it plans to report adoption, external pilots, customer agreements and recurring revenue in coming quarters. The announcement does not supply independently verified results from external brokerage pilots.

Brokerage owners weighing tools like this can ask how the product connects to their current systems, which data it reads and who controls permissions, and what measured pilot results exist outside the vendor's own shop.
