Freddie Mac's refreshed Freddie Automated Servicing Transfer tool, known as FAST, is scheduled to arrive Monday, Oct. 19. Sellers use FAST to upload loan files to the transferee servicers in Freddie Mac's Cash-Released XChange and Co-Issue XChange programs. Freddie Mac's October 19, 2026 release notes say the update keeps the core document-upload capabilities and adds a streamlined interface. The notes are dated October 2026; the exact day they were posted was not verified. This article describes the announced change, not a test of the production system.
What stays the same
Users reach FAST through Freddie Mac Gateway with the same link, login process and credentials. Each upload is still a ZIP file holding the PDF documents for one loan, and current file naming, ZIP integrity and delivery-timing requirements still apply. Freddie Mac's FAST FAQ spells out the naming format: the nine-digit Freddie Mac loan number, the six-digit Servicer Identification Number and a sequence number, separated by dashes. Files are due within three business days after the loan funds with Freddie Mac. That deadline is existing policy, not a new rule.
What is new
Documents can now be dragged and dropped on a single screen. Users no longer select the program, Co-Issue XChange or Cash-Released XChange, or the Servicer from a dropdown before uploading. After an upload, a new Upload Results page shows each file's status along with validation or error messages, so users can see whether a file must be corrected and resubmitted.
Freddie Mac FAST refresh: what changes Oct. 19, 2026
| Area | Stays the same | New |
|---|---|---|
| Access | Same Freddie Mac Gateway link, login and credentials | Refreshed interface after sign-in |
| Upload | One loan per ZIP of PDFs; same naming and timing rules | Drag and drop on one screen; no program or Servicer dropdown first |
| Results | Validation and error messages | New Upload Results page |
| Reconciliation | Same .CSV format | Searched on demand; no longer generated automatically |
| Automation guidance: MFT supported; bots, RPA and screen scraping not supported | Release notes do not say whether this is new or unchanged | Release notes do not say whether this is new or unchanged |
The release notes list error types such as an invalid ZIP or file name, an incorrect Servicer selection, a folder inside the ZIP, an unfunded loan, a duplicate file name, a corrupt or empty ZIP, or an internal transfer issue.
Reconciliation reports also change. Users can search for and generate them directly on the FAST Reporting page instead of waiting for one to be generated. The FAQ says the report keeps its .CSV format but is no longer produced automatically, and that an empty Delivery Date Time column means the file should be uploaded again.
Automation
Freddie Mac says FAST does not support sellers that use robotic process automation scripts, bots or screen scraping. It points sellers that want automated uploads to Managed File Transfer, citing infrastructure security and multifactor authentication for Gateway tools.
What it means for lenders
For loan officers and borrowers, nothing changes in pricing or eligibility. The update matters to post-closing and delivery teams at sellers that use these programs. Freddie Mac suggests confirming each user's Gateway access, reviewing current ZIP and naming rules and contacting Freddie Mac about any automated upload process. FAST is mandatory for Cash-Released XChange, available for select Co-Issue XChange loans and not available for Correspondent XChange, according to the FAQ.
