MCT and Dark Matter link Empower to automate loan sale data writeback

Mortgage Capital Trading and Dark Matter Technologies have connected Dark Matter's Empower loan origination system to MCT's secondary marketing platform, with an automatic writeback of loan sale data that the companies say is now available to existing mutual clients. The companies announced the integration on Thursday, Oct. 15, in a joint release datelined San Diego. MCT press release.

What the integration does

According to the release, the first phase connects Empower loan data directly to MCT's platform and writes post-commitment data back to Empower automatically. That includes loan sale commitments executed on MCT Marketplace, the company's venue for selling loans to investors.

The companies say this removes a manual step in which lender staff re-entered or reconciled loan sale data by hand, a step that can leave records in the two systems out of sync.

The time claim

The headline of the release says the writeback saves lenders up to three minutes per loan. That is the companies' estimate. The release does not cite an independent study or describe how the figure was measured, and actual savings will depend on each lender's process.

Who said what

Chris Anderson, CAO and head of data integrations at MCT, said in the release that every manual data handoff between a loan origination system and a secondary marketing platform "is a place where errors creep in and time gets lost." Vikas Rao, chief executive of Dark Matter Technologies, said lenders "should not have to manage the handoff between their LOS and their secondary marketing platform manually."

Who can use it

The release says the integration is available now to lenders that are clients of both companies, with onboarding handled by MCT's integrations team. It is described as a first phase, and the companies did not give dates for later phases. Pricing was not disclosed.

Why it matters for lenders and borrowers

After a loan is locked and committed for sale, its sale details need to match across origination and secondary marketing systems before delivery to an investor. Mismatches can slow delivery or require rework. For lenders running Empower and MCT, the integration aims to keep those records aligned without rekeying.

Borrowers will not see this directly. It does not change rates, fees or approval standards. Its effect, if any, is on how quickly and accurately lenders process loans after commitment.
